As we covered earlier on Monday, Alfonso Pedraza has returned to Villarreal from Leeds United. The Spanish attacker joined Leeds United during the winter transfer window, and at the time the club’s hopes of promotion looked good.
Automatic promotion was even a possibility but, without that, it was pretty certain Leeds would have a shot at the play-offs. However, it wasn’t to be and Garry Monk’s men faltered towards the end of the season, and were overtaken by others.
Leeds United had a purchase clause of around €10m on Pedraza, triggered by promotion. With that ruled out, and Leeds’ season over, Pedraza has started training with Villarreal. It’s unlikely, as we’ve pointed out previously, that Pedraza could force his way into Villarreal’s starting eleven, so a new loan is a possibility.
El Periodico Mediterraneo report on Monday afternoon that Pedraza is waiting to learn of his fate for next season, with it clearly stated another loan is possible. That’s food for thought for Leeds United.
