Fotomac report Fenerbahce are set to watch Huddersfield Town defender Mathias Jorgensen during this summer’s World Cup.

Mathias Jorgensen, known as Zanka is contracted to Huddersfield Town for another two seasons, but Fenerbahce see him as option to strengthen their defence.

With Fenerbahce keen to offload Martin Skrtel in this transfer window the Yellow Canaries may need to bring in a central defender for next season.

According to Fotomac, the Turkish club will closely follow the Huddersfield Town player, along with Barcelona’s Yerry Mina and Tigres’ Hugo Ayala. After the competition Fenerbahce could look to sign one of these central defenders.

It’s also reported Fenerbahce sporting director Damien Comolli will personally watch the trio in Russia to get a lowdown on them.

Jorgensen impressed during Huddersfield Town’s debut season in the Premier League and he played in all 38 league games. It’s unlikely David Wagner would want to lose a key player like the Denmark international and it would take a good offer for the club to accept.

Despite all of that, Zanka isn’t certain to start for Denmark at the World Cup, so Fenerbahce may need to be lucky.
