Yesterday Gençlerbirliği president İlhan Cavcav said Galatasaray’s offer is not enough for their player Ahmet Çalık and the defender is not for sale under these conditions.
Galatasaray have therefore turned their attention elsewhere and Fotomaç reports the Turkish giants are lining up a bid for Middlesbrough defender Daniel Ayala. The Middlesbrough player has now emerged as the key target for Galatasaray and they are ready to up their interest in the defender.
Ayala was a key player last season for Middlesbrough during their promotion to the Premier League, but in this campaign he hasn’t been a regular in the starting eleven.
Ayala is currently down the pecking order at the Riverside with manager Aitor Karanka preferring the likes of Calum Chambers and Ben Gibson ahead of him.
A move away from Middlesbrough in January may be tempting for Ayala as Galatasaray will certainly offer him a chance to win titles this season.
Galatasaray are looking for a defender who is good in the air because the Turkish side has conceded nine headed goals in the first half of the season.
The 26-year old Spaniard came through the Liverpool academy and under Rafa Benitez played a couple of games for the senior team before leaving. Ayala also had spells with Derby County, Nottingham Forest and Norwich City before he joined Middlesbrough.
