Takvim report Turkish club Trabzonspor are interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Birkir Bjarnason.
Trabzonspor’s Head of Football Ozkan Sumer has reportedly identified Bjarnason and his compatriot Rurik Gislason as possible targets, and the Turkish club are looking to make an approach after the World Cup.
The Aston Villa man is currently in Russia with Iceland and has started the opening two games for his country.
According to Takvim, the Trabzonspor board are keen on signing the Aston Villa player because he’s likely to be a cheaper option for the Turkish club compared to other targets.
Aston Villa are looking to reduce their wage bill by offloading some of their players this summer and this could strengthen Trabzonspor’s chances of landing the Iceland international.
Bjarnason played just 12 games for Aston Villa last season and was linked with Italian side Parma in the last transfer window, but a deal never materialised.
