According to a claim in the Turkish press, Besiktas are interested in signing Rangers left back Borna Barisic ahead of the January transfer window.

The Croatia international only arrived at Ibrox in the last transfer window but it seems he’s made an impression with the Istanbul club.

Ilke Cancanoglu has claimed on social media that Besiktas are exploring the possibility of signing Barisic, who has been held back by injuries this season.

Besiktas’ current left-back Adriano has been linked with a move away from the club, with Japanese clubs reportedly showing an interest in the former Barcelona player.

Subsequently Besiktas may be looking for a replacement and Rangers defender may be an option.

Barisic joined Rangers from Croatian club Osijek at the start of the season for €2.5m and has repeatedly told the media in his home country how thrilled he is at Ibrox and has much he enjoys playing for Steven Gerrard.

A problem for Besiktas, which they should unearth when exploring the possibility of the signing, is that Barisic has already represented two clubs this season and unless Fifa rules have changed, he can’t represent a third.
