According to Greek radio station Sport 24 Fm, Wolverhampton Wanderer’s opening bid for AEK striker Nelson Oliveira was €4m, but this was rejected by the Athens club.

They report Wolves will be expected to return with an improved bid, and the player is pushing AEK to accept the offer as he wants a return to England.

Speaking about the situation, Sport 24 correspondent Vangelis Arnaoutoglou said Wolves definitely want to sign the Portuguese striker: “Wolves are heavily interested in him. He had in mind (to return to Premier League) last summer when he joined AEK. He’s trying to convince his club about the move.”

Arnaoutoglou also added that AEK want to receive €6.5m from the sale of the player, which is his release clause. However, the Greek journalist thinks that if Wolves raise their offer to €5m, then the transfer will be completed.

It’s also stated the former Norwich City striker has informed the club’s sporting director Ilija Ivic about his wish to return to England, and their manager Massimo Carrera is currently considering whether he can play for AEK again.

Oliveira previously had spells with Swansea City, Nottingham Forest, Norwich City and Reading.
