Sandro Ramirez to Real Madrid rumours were started by Marca, with the Madrid leaning Spanish newspaper suggesting he was being looked at along with others impressing for Spain’s U21 side.

It didn’t make a great deal sense, not least because Sandro hasn’t been one of the standout players during the tournament, but Spanish radio ran with it nevertheless.

There were claims of Everton being set to lose out, and even Real Madrid agreeing terms with the player, but, as we made clear at the time, there was no reason for panic at Goodison Park.

Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo covers what actually happened between Real Madrid and Sandro – and that’s absolutely nothing.

There was no Real Madrid agreement, there were no talks, and there hadn’t even been any interest from the Bernabeu in Everton’s target.

Unless things change dramatically, Sandro is expected to be unveiled as an Everton player soon. First there’s a Euro U21 final to contend with, tonight against Germany.
