Some days ago, the Italian press reported Lazio were holding talks with Manchester City to sign Claudio Echeverri on a loan deal.
This was built on the fact that the teenager was spotted in a restaurant close to Lazio’s Formello training ground in Rome.
More has now emerged on the situation and Corriere dello Sport today have looked at what has really happened.
They report, as relayed by LaLazioSiamoNoi, that the Manchester City talent was in that specific restaurant in Rome for only personal reasons and as a result, his visit was a mere ‘coincidence’.
Echeverri did have lunch at the restaurant, which is frequently occupied by Lazio players, but it was suggested to him by his agent Enzo Montepaone and ex-Biancocelesti captain Lucas Biglia, who has excellent relations with the owners of that particular restaurant.
The report states that no negotiations are underway between Manchester City and Lazio to take the 19-year-old on loan to the Roman giants. The youngster is currently hoping to play under Pep Guardiola either this season or next.
