Everton midfielder James Rodriguez’s trip to Ibiza could prove to be ‘costly’ courtesy of the current Covid rules.

That’s according to Marca, who say the midfielder is facing another spell in isolation courtesy of his decision to head to the party island.

Rodriguez was recently pictured on holiday in Ibiza with his friends, taking the chance to unwind during the international break.

Those pictures saw him surrounded by friends on a yacht and smoking, something that could come back to cause him and Everton issues, according to the newspaper.

They say while Rodriguez has not been involved in any ‘scandal’, the incident could have ‘negative consequences’ on the sporting side of things.

According to their information, by leaving Everton’s ‘sanitary bubble’ and being around several people ‘without protective measures’, he will have to comply with a two-week preventative isolation.

That will see him isolated from training and, thus, not up to the same intensity as the rest of his teammates, while he will also miss the upcoming clash with Burnley and a visit to Aston Villa.

That’s not likely to go down well at Everton, and Marca even speculate that this latest incident will give Rafa Benitez ‘more arguments’ to get rid of.

It’s also given more reason for Colombia to keep leaving him out, with this latest absence meaning he’ll be lacking the fitness that manager Reinaldo Rueda recently highlighted as a necessity for him to return in the October international break.

It’s a sorry situation and one the midfielder has only brought on himself, like many of the problems he’s accumulated in recent years.

He needs a drastic change of attitude and, as Bolavip point out, would do well to look at fellow Everton teammate and Colombian Yerry Mina as an example.

He recently posted regarding his training regime during this international break, which he was forced to miss due to injury.

That’s earned him a ‘standing ovation’ from Everton fans, who are less than enamoured by Rodriguez and his partying in comparison.
