Leeds United are eyeing a move for FC Porto’s Zaidu Sanusi in the summer window.
That’s according to Africa Foot, and their title says Leeds are ‘in talks with Porto and Zaidu Sanusi’.
The left-back has been limited to 102 minutes from six games for Porto this season. His contract expires in 2027 but is looking to leave Porto after this season.
Leeds are considering signing the 27-year-old in the next window and have already taken steps.
The Whites have contacted the Primeira Liga side over signing the Nigeria international.
A source close to the agency that represents him has told Africa Foot that Daniel Farke’s side are ‘preparing to offer €2m’ for Sanusi. The same source also explains the Championship club want to offer Sanusi a contract until 2029.
“Contacts began last week, with Leeds being very serious and interested in Sanusi. They want to offer €2m with a four-year contract on the table,” a source said.
“It’s now up to Porto to decide if they are ready to sell him, as the player is keen to move. Initial discussions have been positive, so a transfer is very likely.”
Leeds dropped to second in the Championship table after their 2-2 draw against Swansea City at the weekend. They are two points behind league leaders Sheffield United.
Farke has Junior Firpo as first choice left-back, and the ex-Barcelona man’s contract expires in June. Sanusi could be an affordable option to replace the 28-year-old at Elland Road next season.
