Over the past week, multiple claims from Italy have said Celtic are looking to sign Lazio’s Gustav Isaksen in the winter market, with Il Messaggero being the first to report the interest from Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Two days ago, Corriere dello Sport stated Celtic are keen but hadn’t made an offer to the Serie A side for the winger.

Friday’s edition of the same newspaper provides the latest on Celtic’s chances of securing the 23-year-old’s services.

The Scottish champions failed to sign the Denmark international last summer and are still in the picture to sign him.

Corriere dello Sport point that out and adds an unnamed club have asked to take Isaksen on loan with a buying option, while Lazio want an obligation to buy.

His agent, Ivan Marko Benes, rules out an exit in January and has postponed transfer talks until the summer. The Italian club, on the other hand, are willing to sanction a move as long as the deal is convincing for them.

The Growth Decree [tax advantage] in Italy is no longer in use since the start of last year, but Isaksen is eligible to use it since he arrived at Lazio in August 2023. If he were to move to Celtic, the attacker will lose all his tax advantages.

This could be one of the reasons – and a major one – why Isaksen isn’t favouring a move to Celtic or any other non-Italian club.
