Pierre-Michel Lasogga potentially moving to the Premier League is a theme which continues to pop up in the German media.
On Tuesday we covered claims from Bild which stated a switch to England’s top division could be on the cards, and now Hamburger Morgenpost are saying the same thing about the Leeds United loan player.
It’s stated Lasogga’s form at Leeds United means he could be Hamburg’s ‘Goldesel werden’. That means ‘golden donkey’ and comes from a German saying of making money quickly, basically a donkey that excretes coins.
HSV ‘could never pay’ Lasogga’s salary should their likely relegation be confirmed, say MoPo, and it’s also stated the striker isn’t keen to sign a new contract on a lower package.
MoPo say: ‘It’s a good thing that “PML” didn’t just shoot himself into the hearts of the English fans, but also into the notebooks of Premier League scouts.’
Bottom half Premier League clubs are said to have already signalled their interest, and there genuinely appears to be something in this one.
It would be painful for Leeds United fans to see Lasogga excel at another English side next summer, and surely the Yorkshire club should try everything to secure a deal themselves.
