On Tuesday, Super Deporte reported Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is ‘fishing’ at CA Osasuna for Flavien Enzo Boyomo.
This claim is relayed by Wednesday’s edition of Diario de Noticias, local to Osasuna, who then share their own updates on Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old arrived at the La Liga side from Real Valladolid for €5m in the summer window and has made 13 league appearances this season.
It’s claimed Aston Villa’s desire to sign the defender ‘is real’. The Villans, led by their director Monchi, have been monitoring the Frenchman since he arrived at Osasuna.
The Spanish club are aware the Premier League side are sending officials to watch the centre-back and have built interest in him. Despite being keen, Aston Villa haven’t made direct contact with Osasuna so far.
Osasuna are happy with the Frenchman’s development this season. They have no plans to negotiate a deal with Emery’s side or another club for Boyomo. He has a €25m release clause in his contract that lasts until 2029.
The newspaper states Osasuna are aware the English club have the necessary funds to pay the player’s asking price.
With Aston Villa making moves, it needs to be seen whether they are ready to activate Boyomo’s clause, either in January or next summer.
