Brighton & Hove Albion defender Jan Paul van Hecke was restricted to 13 appearances last season, which included only three league starts.

On June 15th, Eindhovens Dagblad reported the 23-year-old has emerged as an option for PSV Eindhoven. It was also stated they would have to convince the Seagulls to carry out any deal in the summer window.

This claim is relayed by Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink, who took to Twitter to rule out the chances of the Brighton player joining the Eredivisie side in this window.

According to Elfrink, the centre-back ‘seems to stay’ at Brighton and ‘extend his contract soon’ with them.

The Dutchman’s deal runs down on June 30th and the Premier League side have an option to extend it until 2024. Earlier this month, Van Hecke revealed that Roberto De Zerbi’s side have already exercised this option and that he’s in talks with them over a new deal.

If Elfrink’s latest claim is to be believed, the player is expected to sign a new deal soon which would keep him at Brighton beyond 2024.
