São Paulo’s chase for Manchester City defender Nahuel Ferraresi has had a setback, according to the latest reports from Brazil.
Goal writes that the Tricolor now consider the signing to be ‘very hard’.
São Paulo’s idea was to land the player on a loan with no fee, only paying salaries which would be ‘compatible’ with those in Brazil.
Manchester City, however, are playing hard ball in letting the player move for free.
It’s said Tricolor president Julio Casares spoke directly to the Cityzens to try to get to a deal, but there wasn’t a positive response from the Premier League side.
The big reason why São Paulo were hopeful of getting an easy signing is because, despite belonging to Manchester City since 2017, Ferraresi was never really used by the club.
In the past few years, he’s been involved on loans at Montevideo City Torque, Peralada, Porto, Moreirense and Estoril.
Now with the signing looking unlikely, the Brazilian club are set to look for other defensive targets, while Pep Guardiola’s side should continue looking for a new solution for the 23-year-old’s future.
