Morgan Schneiderlin has settled in quickly at Everton and is already one of the club’s better performers. Schneiderlin dipped his level against Tottenham before a really good display at home to West Brom, but then unfortunately picked up an injury in the match against Hull City.
One of the motivations behind Schneiderlin making the move to Everton will have been the France national squad. Dropping out of the picture at Manchester United meant dropping out of Didier Deschamps’ long term France plans, and shining at Everton could change that.
However, L’Equipe don’t believe Schneiderlin has much of a chance of getting back in the reckoning for France ahead of the 2018 World Cup. The 27 year old midfielder is given just a 5% chance of inclusion for the tournament, which France look good to qualify for.
Much of that is down to increased competition, and there’s little Schneiderlin can do about that. His move to Everton has clearly been the right decision, with Ronald Koeman already showing the faith he has in a player he already managed at Southampton.
Maybe a few injuries and a continuation of good Everton performances could help Schneiderlin improve his odds.
