Despite having had a bid accepted by Stade de Reims, Newcastle United don’t appear any closer to signing Hugo Ekitike.
The young striker has put everything on hold while he mulls over his future, thus giving other clubs the chance to enquire about a potential move.
Paris Saint-Germain are one of these, as L’Equipe in France claim Antero Henrique, back working with the Ligue 1 side, met with Ekitike’s staff ‘in the past few days’.
The idea of this meeting was for the Portuguese transfer man to ‘gauge the progress of the potential transfer to Newcastle’.
They then reiterate the young forward ‘wants to give himself time to make a decision and hasn’t given his agreement’ to the Magpies.
As you might recall, Newcastle already tried to sign Ekitike during the January transfer window, to no avail, and returned earlier on in the current transfer window, succeeding in at least reaching terms with Reims.
Convincing the player, however, remains a problem they have yet to find a solution to.
