Just under a week ago, we covered an article from Italy where it was explained that Manchester United were keen on signing Mehdi Taremi from FC Porto.
The reason for this was the lack of depth in the striker role at Old Trafford, and the idea of signing an experienced goalscorer for a relatively cheap fee in January was appealing.
The problem for Manchester United, at least according to Calciomercato, is that the Iran international doesn’t see himself moving to England.
A lot will depend on whether he signs a new contract, because he remains an important player of their squad and one Sergio Conceicao relies on a lot, but the idea in the manager’s mind would be to keep for now and potentially lose him on a free.
Porto, down their end, might prefer to cash in on him in January if they can, and they know that someone like Toni Martinez won’t have as much as a market as Taremi.
The player himself isn’t pushing for a move away midway through the season, but if he is placed on a transfer list in the coming months, ‘he will consider the proposals’ from both Inter and AC Milan.
Should a move present itself, then ‘Italy is his priority’, more than England, where Manchester United are ‘in the hunt’ for a new goalscorer.
