The German sport media, understandably, remain hugely interested in anything happening with Leroy Sane.
Throughout the summer the Manchester City player was linked with a move to Bayern Munich, and at times there was a lot of confidence in the German media about the potential transfer actually happening.
Bild reported Sane wouldn’t play for Pep Guardiola’s side in the Community Shield match against Liverpool, due to fear of the player picking up an injury which could scupper a transfer.
He did play, and the injury came, with Sane then undergoing surgery in Austria to fix his cruciate.
Bild now have some exclusive updates on the player’s situation.
They say he remains in Innsbruck and is training for four to six hours a day. Of course, he can’t yet use his knee, so is working on upper body strength and keeping generally fit.
The German newspaper also says Sane can now bend his knee at 90 degrees.
Despite the Manchester City player not being expected back until the Spring, Bild believe Bayern could make another transfer attempt during the winter transfer window.
The English club are being kept updated on Sane’s recovery, and so are Dr. Müller-Wohlfahrt and Dr. Hahne, the former having strong Bayern contacts and the latter working with the German national team.
