Anthony Elanga played 27 senior matches for Manchester United in the recently concluded domestic season, with the 20-year-old scoring two goals in the Premier League and one in the Champions League.
It will almost certainly be more difficult for Elanga to get minutes next season, with Erik ten Hag expected to improve his options in attack.
The youngster is currently away with Sweden’s national side, and will be hoping to impress the Dutchman from afar.
He scored against Norway at the weekend, but his side still lost 2-1, and that’s left him wanting revenge in the return fixture.
Elanga won’t have to wait long for the opportunity to present itself, with the countries facing each other on Sunday, June 12th.
Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, he made it clear he wants to reverse the result when the match is played in Oslo, clearly hurt by the loss at home.
Fotbollskanalen quote him as saying: “I’m glad I scored, but I’m disappointed we lost. It’s been 17 years since we last lost to Norway, so it’s tough to take. We saw how they celebrated with their fans. It was tough to take.
“When the match was over, I longed for Oslo. I want to win against Norway. As they celebrated here, I want to celebrate in Norway.”
Elanga has been playing on the left for Sweden, a position he prefers to what he usually gets at Old Trafford: “It suits me very well. At United I play a lot on the right but now I get the chance to play on the left, that is my favourite position. I can do more there. I can go both inside on the pitch and also the outside.”
