One of the hottest properties on the managerial market, Mauricio Pochettino, who was allegedly on the list of a few Italian clubs last season, is now top of Paris Saint-Germain’s list.
According to Paris United, who were at the forefront of most transfer rumours surrounding the Ligue 1 leaders over the summer, Antero Henrique, the club’s director of football, is already preparing the post Emery era.
Of course, there is nothing pointing towards the fact the Spaniard will leave at the end of the season, but with such high expectations at the club, and taking into account last season’s disappointing second place finish in the league, anything can happen.
The French website state the Tottenham manager could be after a new challenge when he finished his fourth year with the London club, with a return to Parc des Princes ‘one of his dreams’.
For those who don’t remember, the Argentine former footballer played in Paris for two years between 2001-2003 before moving to Bordeaux and then back to Espanyol, the club he’d left to move to Ligue 1.
Behind him on said list are Antonio Conte, José Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, André Villas-Boas and Gallardo.
It seems that list is in order of preference, with Diego Simeone dropping out of the list completely as Paris Saint-Germain start looking for a tactician rather than someone excelling in man management.
We’ll have to wait and see if anything comes of this, but with over three years left on his Tottenham deal, it would take a fair amount of money to convince Spurs to let their star manager go.
Then again, when has the financial aspect of deals ever stopped Paris Saint-Germain?
