Marseille are on the verge of a big chance following news they will change owners in the near future, and everyone is getting a bit carried away with who the new people in charge could bring in.
With Franck Passi struggling to get his players to hold onto wins when they appear to be in some form of control, a new manager is probably on Frank McCourt’s to do list, but so is a director of football.
On Friday, L’Equipe have a look at who the Ligue 1 club could attempt to convince in order to bring some better players in a quite frankly lacklustre squad, and some surprising names are popping up.
First comes Luis Campos, who recently left Monaco, could be tempted despite already saying no over the summer.
Then we have Monchi, Sevilla’s borderline mythical director of football, who has helped turn the La Liga club into a Europa League winning machine.
Finally, Tottenham’s Paul Mitchell, the club’s Head of Recruitment, who L’Equipe say will be available soon, has the advantage of knowing Marseille’s former president Vincent Labrune really well, suggesting he could be the favourite.
Of course, this is all pure speculation at this moment in time considering Frank McCourt isn’t actually in charge at the moment, but it’ll be interesting to see where Paul Mitchell ends up once his exit from Tottenham is complete.
