Tottenham Hotspur have become the latest Premier League side to be credited with interest in Celta de Vigo star Gabri Veiga.
That’s according to Atlántico, who explain Spurs have ‘confirmed their interest’ in the 20-year-old. He has impressed in his first full season for the La Liga side, managing nine goals and four assists.
This has convinced many clubs to knock on his door. Veiga has a €40m release clause and the number of clubs that are willing to activate this seems to be growing.
It’s said five Premier League sides, including Tottenham, have already approached either Celta or the highly rated midfielder himself. They will face competition from AC Milan and Napoli.
Celta are well aware Veiga’s suitors can at least double his current salary, which makes it difficult for them to offer him an extension and increase the clause.
They seem to be helpless from stopping the player leaving, which is why the Spanish club have taken his exit for granted.
The report adds Celta are not willing to negotiate a price. If the likes of Tottenham and others find an agreement with Veiga, they will have to pay his €40m release clause to sign him in the summer.
It’ll be down to Tottenham to convince Veiga, if they wish to bring him to north London next season.
