Former Denmark international, and current football commentator, Morten Bruun wants his country to know just how good Tottenham Hotspur are at the moment. From commentating on Premier League matches, Bruun has built up a knowledge of English football and is mightily impressed with Spurs.

That’s why he sees no reason for Christian Eriksen to consider leaving the club. The only level he could go to, believes Bruun, is somewhere like Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, but even those clubs would have their disadvantages compared to Tottenham.

Speaking to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, Bruun explained: “Tottenham is the place to be these days. People are not aware of how much potential the club has.

“First, you have a crazily good football team, where they have almost all extended their contracts by several years, and generally the club has the potential to become a force in English football in the coming years.

“There’s a new stadium on the way and they have a manager who players want to play for. His philosophy fits excellent with the way Eriksen would like to play, and he is loyal to him.

“And then it must surely be cool to be at a club that has not have accomplished something big for a long time and is perhaps on the threshold of doing it.

Tottenham’s biggest Danish football fan is clearly optimistic for the future of the club under Mauricio Pochettino, and everything Bruun says has a basis in reality, he’s not needed to go for wild exaggeration to paint the picture for a Danish audience.

Spurs are on the up, there’s little reason to leave.

But what if one of those big three of Barca, Bayern or Madrid did come in for Eriksen? Bruun still isn’t sure it would be a good move: “In principle, I could see him at one of them, but you must realise that it is a huge level. Gareth Bale has himself explained how hard it was to switch from Tottenham to Madrid. It was like coming to another planet. You’re not protected as in England, and the pressure from the media and fans is completely different.”
