It’s been rare these days to check the Italian rumour mill and not see stories about Tottenham Hotspur’s hunt for a central defender in Serie A.
This week, there have already been many stories about Spurs’ pursuit for the likes of Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni and Torino’s Gleison Bremer, and now there’s another to add to that list.
According to Calciomercato, Tottenham are interested in the signing of Roma defender Roger Ibanez, who say Antonio Conte has been keeping a ‘watchful eye’ on the player for a long time.
The Giallorossi are aware of how impressive Ibanez’s season has been, which is why they have already set a price for his sale this summer, and that’s of €30m.
Roma are getting so prepared for that potential sale that they already drafted a list of replacements, with players from Bologna (Arthur Theate) and Feyenoord (Marco Senesi) being looked at.
Now while Tottenham watch the scenario for defenders in Italy, they should get aware there’s competition to sign Ibanez this summer, since Newcastle United are said to be strongly interested in him as well.
