Arkadiusz Milik’s situation at Napoli continues to be something of a mess. He should have moved during the last window, after a contract renewal became unlikely and relationships fell to pieces.
Despite several clubs, including Tottenham, being reportedly interested, no deal was found. That was put partly down to Aurelio De Laurentiis’ asking price and the salary level Milik was looking for.
Napoli are playing hardball and Milik has been excluded from the club’s squad, with the Serie A side clearly angry about the prospect of losing him for free at the end of the season.
Now, with a building fear over participation in Euro 2020, the striker and his agents have decided they want to move when the January window opens. Tottenham are ‘at the window’ for the signing, according to Il Mattino, with potential interest also coming from Atletico Madrid, Juventus and PSG.
De Laurentiis values Milik at €10-15m which seems wholly unrealistic for the winter market. Given he’s not being used and that his contract expires in June, interested clubs would surely be looking at less than €10m.
Tottenham would be in that bracket, and there’s no way Daniel Levy would simply pay what Napoli want.
