You might have heard that Tottenham are on the verge of signing Bryan Gil from Sevilla, with Erik Lamela going the other way.
This deal would allow Spurs to offload the Argentine’s salary while bringing in a younger player who would suit Nuno Espirito Santo more, but there’s a price that comes with it.
That fee, according to Calciomercato, is of ‘€30m, bonuses included’, meaning that Tottenham are paying that much and Lamela for the Spaniard.
As things stand, the deal is ‘close to closing’, with just ‘details’ left to be sorted.
For those who don’t know, the 20-year-old hasn’t played all that much for Sevilla in his short career to date, making just 21 appearances for the first team, spending last season on loan at Eibar.
That’s where he really caught the eye, scoring four goals and assisting another four for the Spanish side in 29 appearances, but was unable to stop them from getting relegated.
We’ll have to see if this is a move that pays off in the long run, but it’s clear that Tottenham were desperate to get rid of Lamela, with Sevilla getting some more experience and money for a player who, while presenting a lot of potential, might not have been a key player for them next season.
