The interest from Premier League clubs for Chilean defender Guillermo Maripan gets some big attention from the South American media today.
Following recent claims saying Tottenham Hotspur are willing to sign the 26-year-old, AS comes up to point out that Watford and West Ham have been following the player as well.
Now what their report is really covering is Maripán’s recent quotes to his home country’s media. Interviewed by Radio Cooperativa this week, the player has claimed he’d fancy a move to England.
“Personally, I’ve always liked the Premier League a lot, I’ve always wanted to play there and I am aiming there,” said Maripán (via AS).
AS credits Sport Witness to say Maripán would cost around €20m. But truth is we were just covering a story from Todo Fichajes which said that’s how much Monaco would demand from Tottenham.
In fact, we even pointed out that this figure sounds too little for a player who Monaco paid €18m for in the last summer window. In case there’s really an auction from Premier League sides, we can bet the French club will demand more money for him.
