As explained a number of times in the past, Milan are keen to sign Japhet Tanganga from Tottenham following the success of the whole Fikayo Tomori transfer.
Gazzetta dello Sport bring the latest, making it clear the Spurs man ‘is among the main objectives’ after the Serie A side lost Alessio Romagnoli to a free transfer and failed to sign Sven Botman.
Because the player is ‘not an absolute first choice under Antonio Conte at Tottenham’, they feel there is a deal to be struck, but they want to give themselves a season to ‘evaluate his impact in the Italian league’ before spending the money.
Unlike the Tomori deal with Chelsea, however, Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici ‘want the balance to be guaranteed in 12 months’, meaning they want the loan to be with an obligation to buy.
Should Milan fail to agree to these terms, they fee ‘it is better to keep the player in the squad’ as an ‘extra option in a season full of commitments’.
The Italians want Tanganga and the player ‘reciprocates’ that feeling, and while Tottenham didn’t go into the summer with the idea of selling him, they have opened to the possibility ‘to satisfy the player’s desire’, but only if they can cash in on him.
Milan, down their end, aren’t ready to commit just yet, which is what all parties are expected to negotiate in the coming days in hope of finding a solution that suits everyone.
