Two days ago, we relayed news from Italy that Tottenham Hotspur have offered a €8m per season deal to Franck Kessié, to join them as a free agent in 2022.
The midfielder has entered his final year of contract at AC Milan and Paolo Maldini has stressed the club will do ‘what is sustainable’ to renew his contract.
La Repubblica brings an update on the 24-year-old and part of their title states Tottenham ‘tries’ to sign the player.
The Ivory Coast international, who has expressed his desire to continue with his current employer, wasn’t convinced with the renewal offer proposed by the club.
Milan doesn’t want to repeat the Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Çalhanoğlu cases as the duo left the San Siro as free agents. It’s not made clear if they will offer a better deal or look to cash in from Kessié’s sale before the window closes.
While the Italian club and Kessié are ‘distant’ with the renewal, Spurs will ‘try to buy the player’ by inserting Tanguy Ndombele as part of the operation.
The Frenchman is also popular with Juventus, who have offered Weston McKennie in exchange for Ndombele.
La Repubblica say Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are ‘very interested’ in the US player, but Fabio Paratici will only look to sign him on a free loan deal. McKennie, for his part, isn’t looking to leave the Turin club before the window closes.
Interesting days ahead…
