Many Tottenham Hotspur fans will be aware of how excitable the Danish press get about Christian Eriksen and a potential transfer to Barcelona.

Often without any reason whatsoever, the Danish sport media can go on a two week run of linking Eriksen to Barcelona, and then reflecting on the world’s media covering the idea.

In the football food chain, Barcelona are higher than Tottenham, but Spurs can also be the prey. That’s why German claims of Tottenham interest in Thomas Delaney have been met with some excitement.

Delaney has previously been linked with Everton, Brighton & Hove Albion and Burnley, but Tottenham is much the more excitable destination for the Danish media. It’s a link which will be nurtured, especially with the midfielder currently being in brilliant for both his national team and Werder Bremen.

With the others pushed to one side, it’s Tottenham getting attention from Ekstra Bladet.

It’s difficult to see how Delaney would fit in at Tottenham, but it’s certainly a welcome idea, and one the Danish media will surely be keeping a very close eye on.

Our opinion? Delaney is in excellent form and whilst a move over the next two windows has been rumoured, and is certainly possible, there’s little point in the Dane swapping being a Werder Bremen hero for a Tottenham substitute.
