Tottenham being linked with Mateo Kovacic has given the Catalan press a chance to try and stir up perceived trouble for their great enemies at Real Madrid.
Mundo Deportivo covered the story in their Sunday edition, explaining the ‘overbooking’ problem in Real Madrid’s squad, Sport do similar.
Sport say the ‘abudance’ of midfielders could cause an issue, and they go into further detail about Kovacic’s competition. The biggest problem for Kovacic getting chances at Real Madrid, believe Sport, is Marcos Llorente, who has returned from a loan at Alaves.
The central midfielder would be understudy for Casemiro in Sport’s eyes, taking away one of Kovacic’s most obvious routes to the team. That would provide hope for Mauricio Pochettino if claims of Tottenham interest are accurate.
The Catalan newspaper also point out a ‘problem’ for Tottenham.
With English claims of the player being valued at €25m, Sport believe Real Madrid simply wouldn’t sell him for that amount. Any final decision would be down to Zinedine Zidane, but financially a €25m Tottenham offer isn’t thought to be very good, and therefore a ‘problem’.
