Tottenham Hotspur scouting FC Porto this week led to fair assumptions the club were watching Ricardo Pereira.

Spurs aren’t one of the English clubs who scout most often in Portugal, therefore them having a specific target, rather than general scouting, made sense.

Add to that the Tottenham links with Pereira earlier on in the window, and all the pieces fit snugly together.

Portuguese newspaper O Jogo has seen the links, and they want to point something out on behalf of Porto: Ricardo Pereira is very important to manager Sérgio Conceição, both as a fullback and winger, and is not for sale. The only way Pereira will leave Porto this summer is for an offer that can’t be refused.

Therefore it’s very useful for Tottenham that Pereira’s buyout clause is €25m, smaller amounts have been lost down the back of the Premier League transfer sofa this summer.

Pereira’s main position is right back, but he can also play right wing and left back. The 25 year old spent the past two seasons on loan at Nice and showed his level. If he’d have had such a time at Porto, his buyout clause would now likely be €45m+.

What’s not to love for Tottenham?
