Palermo star Franco Vazquez has been tipped to leave the Serie A club this summer, after the club’s president Maurizio Zamparini admitted several clubs were interested in him. The latest jewel from Palermo, Vazquez is older than their usual big sale and so won’t bring the same type of fee.
Zamparini specifically mentioned Tottenham have made contact for the 27-year-old, and made everyone aware that he is asking for €25m for the player.
Reports also suggested West Bromwich have shown interest in signing Vazquez, but it now appears another Premier League side could be leading the race to sign him.
According to Italian website Gazzetta Mercato, Watford are interested in signing Vazquez. They say Vazquez ‘could end up in the Premier League’, but rule out West Bromwich Albion’s chances of signing him.
Gazzetta Mercato, however, are not the most reliable source, and we should wait for more concrete reports. One of the Gazzetta dello Sport offshoots, perhaps they’re in the ‘Gazzetta World’ sphere of claims.
The 27-year-old has 8 goals and 6 assists to his name in 36 league appearances, and is tied to the Serie A club till 2019. With all due respect to Watford, Vazquez may well feel he can do better, and if he can’t… then Sicily isn’t such a bad place to stay.
