Back in October, reports from Brazil claimed that Tottenham Hotspur were going ‘strong’ to sign Joaquin Piquerez from Palmeiras.
It was claimed Spurs were among the Premier League sides who’d been watching the fullback, who’s valued by the Brazilian club at €10m.
Now it’s time for ESPN Brasil to bring some quotes from Piquerez on his future and the possibility of a move to European football.
The fullback has just been awarded by TV Gazeta as the best left-back in the league, and he talked about the possibility of leaving South America in the near future.
“I want to keep growing, I’m happy at Palmeiras, I have the dream of playing in Europe, but I enjoy the present and I want to keep winning titles for Palmeiras,” said Piquerez.
Tottenham aren’t the only Premier League club who’ve been linked to Piquerez in the past few months, as the likes of Aston Villa and Leeds United have also been said to be interested.
The fullback has been doing quite well in South America lately, as his CV includes two Brazilian leagues and one Copa Libertadores.
Since he’s already 25, it seems about time for Tottenham and the other interested parties to start placing their bids for the signing.
