A Spor report Galatasaray are pushing hard to sign Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri in this transfer window, but face surprise competition from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 26 year old is expected to find another club this summer after Stoke City’s relegation, and Galatasaray are interested in the Swiss international.

A Spor say Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim is a huge admirer of Shaqiri and the Turkish boss has invited the player’s agent to Istanbul for talks.

Terim tried to sign Shaqiri for Galatasaray when the player was at Basel, as did half of Europe, and he now believes there’s a realistic chance to get a deal done.

However, A Spor claim Tottenham are also in the race to sign Shaqiri and they are looking to land him for a fee in the region of €13m, which would be the relegation clause. With Galatasaray up against it with FFP this would put Mauricio Pochettino in the driving seat.

Shaqiri played 36 games for Stoke City last season, scoring 8 goals. The player is under contract with the Potters until 2020.
