As Tottenham Hotspur’s quest for a new goalkeeper continues, we today see a new name added to their list.
According to French journalist Ignazio Genuardi, Spurs have Nantes’ Alban Lafont as a target.
It’s claimed that by going after the 24-year-old, Tottenham could bet on a ‘less experienced’ goalkeeper than the likes of David Raya and Jordan Pickford.
Lafont is said to be ‘among the tracks’ Spurs are ‘studying’ as the club reportedly have a shortlist with five players on it.
Genuardi, however, doesn’t bring any information on how much Tottenham would like to pay for the player, or how much Nantes would demand.
Lafont is currently protected by the French side with a contract until 2024, and that may force them to sell in this window and he would be far cheaper than alternatives.
He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €20m, and that could definitely make him a cheaper target than others that Spurs have an eye on.
The goalkeeper used to belong to Fiorentina, and was signed by Nantes in 2019, first on a loan deal, then bought in 2021 for €7.5m.
With his club not having a great year, he conceded 78 goals this season, but still managed to keep 13 clean sheets in 48 games.
