The Portuguese press keep covering Tottenham’s alleged chase of Adrien Silva, and according to Jornal de Notícias today, the first bid has already been made.
The newspaper claims that Sporting have turned down €20m for the midfielder, as president Bruno de Carvalho demands at least €30m.
But Spurs are still being ‘patient’ and a new offer should be made in the next few weeks. The club would be counting on Adrien’s will to convince the Lions he should leave for less.
That’s because when the negotiations with Leicester City collapsed last year, Silva claimed he was promised by Carvalho that he could leave. So this is one more chance to bring that up, and try to make the official keep his word.
It’s not a secret the midfielder wants to play in the Premier League, and Jornal de Notícias reckons the price could be dropped because of this agreement between player and president.
But for that to happen, Tottenham need to raise their bid first, and that’s if it’s correct they’ve made one. As we’ve repeatedly pointed out, Tottenham’s renewed interest in Adrien started as an opinion piece in England, and then was made much more in the Portuguese press.
