Arriving for a record fee at the time, Davinson Sánchez has found himself having a mixed last couple of years at Tottenham.
However, he has started to be a regular under Antonio Conte of late, with the Colombian seeming to have put some previous struggles behind him, and yet his name still appears on the transfer rumour mill.
This time, it’s a move to Napoli that is being touted by Corriere dello Sport, who indicate the Tottenham player is on the Serie A side’s list of replacements for Kostas Manolas.
The Greek defender secured a return to his home country on Thursday, travelling to complete a transfer to Olympiakos, where he was greeted as a hero and photographed dancing with fans to celebrate his move.
That won’t fully go through until the beginning of January, but it does leave a hole in Luciano Spalletti’s squad that will need to be filled.
That’s where Sánchez comes in, with it claimed he, Gleison Bremer and Felix Uduokhai are on Cristiano Giuntoli’s list.
The Brazilian is the favourite, but Torino’s president recently made it clear that a move in January was out of the question, leaving the Tottenham and FC Augsburg players as the fall-back options.
It remains to be seen if Spurs are willing sellers, but if they are, that would mean someone else would come in to replace him, or Conte could find himself short of centre-backs for his preferred formation.
If Sánchez is sold but not replaced, however, he might have a few choice words for Daniel Levy about that.
