The Spanish media continue with their claims relating to Cristian Romero and a move to Atletico Madrid, and it feels like there’s genuinely something concrete behind the growing story.

Recently flirting over a move to Spain during an interview, the Argentina international is said to have already spoken to Diego Simeone and shared his desire to move to Atletico.

Marca now report Romero told Tottenham of his plan to leave at the end of March, encouraging the Premier League club to listen to offers.

The Spanish newspaper state Atletico have been working on this potential signing for as long as five months, but will have to wait until Tottenham’s Europa League fate is known to truly start negotiations.

Romero is said to be willing to put the pressure on at Tottenham to push the club to accept a transfer, and Simeone would welcome the player and approve what is described as being a ‘dream’ move for the Spurs man.

Of course, the biggest issue will be price, with Spanish reports suggesting Atletico don’t want to pay much over €40m, and Tottenham wanting much more.
