Harry Kane’s success with Tottenham Hotspur isn’t anything new in England, since it’s been a few seasons the striker has been excelling at the club. But it’s interesting to see how the foreign press has started taking him seriously in the past few months.

This attention was increased for two reasons: his nomination to the Ballon d’Or, and, of course, the rumours regarding a move to Real Madrid.

Being the best player in the world was the subject of an interview with French outlet SFR Sport, and a bit about his feelings on the prize have been posted on their Twitter account.

“To be up there with them sort of names and in that sort of company, it’s fantastic. Of course I still have a bit of work to do be right up there and to be in contention to win it,” the Tottenham striker SFR Sport.

“But I’m not far off, you know, the year I’ve had has been a fantastic year. So it’s just about improving on that and keep getting better and better, and hopefully these things will keep happening and of course it would be a dream one day to win it.”

At the start of the week, Harry Kane was tied with Cristiano Ronaldo on number of goals in 2017, as they had scored 43 each.

But the Tottenham player was unlucky in this race during the game against Real Madrid. His effort for the Spurs’ opener was, rightly, counted as Raphael Varane’s own goal, and as the Portuguese superstar later scored from a penalty, he now has a little advantage.
