Tottenham Hotspur star Lucas Moura spoke to the Brazilian media following his side’s home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
Despite leading twice, Spurs ended up losing 3-2, with Wolves’ goals making the Brazilian quite upset with his team’s defence.
“We conceded some counterattacks and we were unable to stop the play when we were supposed to stop. And we ended up conceding the goal. I think small details made the difference in today’s game,” Lucas Moura told ESPN Brasil.
Despite the loss, which left Tottenham 7th place in the Premier League, the winger still believes the club are in the fight for a spot in the Champions League next season.
“I think it’s pretty tangled. There are still a lot of games, we have all the conditions to reach the upper side, among the top four.”
Asked what Spurs must improve to get these results at the end of the season, Lucas Moura said: “I think it’s clear that we have to improve in terms of compacting the team more and conceding fewer goals. We’ve been conceding many goals, and many with our mistakes. It’s a fact that we have to improve on this issue.
“But I think the team are dedicating well. A little more attention, a little more switched on for the last ball, for the small details, to make a foul when necessary. I think we need a little bit of that.”
Tottenham should now have a calmer sequence as they face Norwich City for the FA Cup and then Burnley for the Premier League.
After that, they prepare for tough games against RB Leipzig in the Champions League and then Manchester United in a direct challenge for the Premier League’s top four.
