Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has been selected in Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week for last weekend’s round of matches.
Each week the Italian newspaper selects the best eleven from players outside of Serie A, and this week Alli has been picked after his performance against Manchester City on Sunday.
Alli in recent weeks has found the form which made him one of the standout players in the last campaign. The England international scored Tottenham’s second goal in their 2-0 victory over Manchester City, which saw the North London side climb to second in the Premier League table, just one point behind the side they beat.
Alli also won Tottenham’s penalty, but Eric Lamela missed the opportunity to put his side 3-0 ahead following Claudio Bravo’s save.
Alli’s impressive display at the weekend came just days after he was selected in the shortlist for this year’s Golden Boy award.
The award run by Italian newspaper Tuttosport selects the top 40 youngsters in world football with the winner set to be announced in December.
Alli will face still competition from the likes of Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Bayern Munich’s Renato Sanches, Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman and Manchester City’s Leroy Sane.
