Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven has insisted he is not endlessly rewatching his solo assist against Manchester United, despite the clip continuing to circulate.
The defender has been speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, relayed by Voetbal Nieuws, about various topics, including that assist at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman went viral for his assist in the comfortable win over Manchester United at the end of the month when he raced down the length of the pitch past several United players before knocking a simple ball across goal for Brennan Johnson to tap home with ease.
It was an almost stunning moment from the Tottenham centre-back, who once again demonstrated his impressive speed across the ground.
This assist was the latest demonstration of the power and speed that has now become synonymous with his game, although usually they are talents, he applies to help defends Tottenham’s goal rather than creating goals at the other end of the pitch.
You would forgive the 23-year-old for rewatching the moment back in time since, but it appears he has no intention of reliving it again and again.
“I saw space in a flash,” he said.
“So, then you think: go. Yes, that goal was a highlight of course. But it’s not like I look back at those images endlessly.”
