Son Heung-min is all set for his big night against former club Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. On Monday the German media were fretting that Mauricio Pochettino had given Son some rest at the weekend, showing how important he is, and on Tuesday Bild have words from the man himself.
The German newspaper quote Son as saying: “We need the points as badly as Leverkusen. The team has great quality. In the group everything will be open until the final day.”
Bild say Bayer Leverkusen will be ‘trembling’ at the thought of playing against Son, given the form he’s currently in. The South Korean international’s great spell has been covered widely in Germany, because it’s likely killed Bayer’s dream of buying him back any time soon.
Roger Schmidt, the Bundesliga club’s manager, has also had something to say about Son, and of course it’s nice: “A great player with great character. Now he shows his true strength.”
Son is very much expected to star for Tottenham on Tuesday night, it would probably be a surprise in Germany if he had a quiet game, such is the hype built up about his return.
Bild have also mocked up what they think the teams will be for the match, with their expertise on this very much on the German side, and showing what kind of line-up and formation Bayer will put out.
