Tottenham’s recent spate of contract renewals has been just another basket of good news in a period that is pretty bright for the club. The way Spurs lost the Premier League last season may well have created a hangover this time around, especially given the way some players performed at Euro 2016.

Add to that the injury to Harry Kane, and Tottenham could be in a very different situation right now. One full of worry rather than hope.

Of course, that’s not the case, and the optimism at Tottenham is something which seems to come from within the strength of the group. Renewals have shown players want to coninute and Christian Eriksen has been speaking repeatedly since signing his own contract.

Prior to the renewal, any interview Eriksen did always tended to learn towards: So why haven’t you renewed yet?

Now that’s largely (there are still questions put to him about it) out of the way, Eriksen has been happy to tell everyone what a good life he has at Tottenham.

On the recent contract renewals, Eriksen has told Denmark’s BT: “I think it gives an impression that people are eager to be part of the club and remain a part of the club.

“You feel like you are in a place where you can develop and where, first of all, you can hopefully win something.”

The Denmark international said the “positive things” at the club right mean that players “naturally” want to be there.

But it’s not all rainbows. The recent Champions League defeat to AS Monaco at Wembley wasn’t a great day for the squad, and Eriksen hasn’t tried to hide his disappointed but once again talked about going forward positively.

“When we lost to Monaco, it was an awful day. But afterwards it has been really positive. We knew we had to get up on the horse again and we have luckily shown that we can get up again, although we are beaten a little.”
