Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez has emerged as a target for Tottenham Hotspur, according to several reports.

Spurs have Hugo Lloris as their first-choice stopper, with Fraser Forster acting as his deputy. Although the Frenchman has a deal lasting until 2024, there have been talks of the north London club planning to bring in a new goalkeeper in the summer.

The Aston Villa player could be an option for Tottenham since they are showing ‘specific interest’ in the Argentina international.

That’s according to TyC Sports journalist Gastón Edul and he further claims Spurs ‘may make an offer’ for the World Cup winner in the coming weeks. That’s all the report has to say on this case.

Earlier this month, Martínez’s agent revealed his client’s situation at Aston Villa will be reviewed in the summer while also insisting the 30-year-old is “fine” at Villa Park.

The representative had also stated the South American’s next goal is to win a European club competition.

Martínez has a contract until 2027 and that would not make it easy for Tottenham to take him away from Aston Villa after this season.
