Carles Aleñá has been restricted to only 45 minutes of action at Barcelona this season and it came in their 1-0 defeat to Athletic Club Bilbao in August.
Due to a lack of opportunities, the 21-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou.
Several reports in October and November talked about Tottenham Hotspur being one of the potential destinations for the midfielder in January.
Mundo Deportivo explained on November 8th that Spurs sent a proposal to the player’s agent and the La Liga winners have so far not denied the north London club’s approach.
All these claims were made before Tottenham replaced Mauricio Pochettino with José Mourinho last month.
Since then, here have been no reports linking Aleñá to the English club, until AS came up with one today. The Spanish newspaper states ‘at the moment, Tottenham are an option, although obviously the player has more proposals.’
There’s no mention of other clubs in the report, and it explains it’s now down to Barca to decide under what conditions would they allow Aleñá to leave the club in January.
AS states it’s difficult to think Barcelona would sanction Aleñá’s transfer without a buyback clause, but they believe the most feasible option would be a loan move.
