Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs who are chasing Grêmio fullback Vanderson, according to reports from Brazil.
Outlet Globo Esporte today features a story with many details about the battle for the 20-year-old this summer.
They say Spurs ‘sought information’ about the signing, and the response for now is that Grêmio refuse to even open negotiations for the move, forcing Tottenham’s Fabio Paratici to look elsewhere for the time being.
Still, there are many more clubs looking for Vanderson. One of them is said to be a ‘smaller side from the English league’, who had a bid of €12m turned down by the Brazilians.
Add on top of that the competition from Milan, who made an approach, and from Spartak Moscow, who are monitoring the situation, meaning Tottenham may find life more difficult than first anticipated if they actively pursued this avenue.
It’s even claimed that Arsenal had previously shown interest as well.
The report says the chances of a move to England pleases the player’s entourage, even though he’d need a special authorisation from the Premier League to get a work permit.
Globo Esporte doesn’t seem to know how much it’d take to convince Grêmio of making the sale, but the player’s currently release clause is of €100m, meaning the club have a pretty big margin for negotiation if they want to play hardball.
