Real Madrid’s interest in Son Heung-min is being driven by manager Zinedine Zidane, who is a huge fan of the Tottenham forward.
That’s according to Defensa Central, a Real Madrid dedicated site, who say sources close to the club have backed recent reports linking Son with a move to the Bernabeu.
Son is having another sensational campaign, with 16 goals and eight assists in 25 games in all competitions so far.
That has led to reports that Real Madrid are interested in a move, with both him and teammate Harry Kane having been linked with huge transfers.
DC cover that today, saying the Tottenham star is ‘sounding strongly’ with the Real Madrid board due to the advice of Zidane.
The Frenchman is ‘interested’ in Son as he knows that neither Kylian Mbappé nor Mohamed Salah are guaranteed to arrive at the club.
Thus, Son is ‘leading Zizou’s agenda’, although he is aware that it would ‘far exceed €100m’ to sign him from Tottenham and Florentino Perez is struggling to raise the funds to make transfers of that calibre.
That’s a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, with it felt the Spanish giants will have to wait for it to end or sell those in the squad who aren’t a part of Zidane’s plans.
Thus, it seems Tottenham have nothing to worry about at this moment in time but the interest in Son is there and it is Zidane who is leading the charge.
